ballcenter Our plastic balls – genuine all-rounders

The applications for plastic balls are as multi-facetted as the material they are made from. Reach for these unrivalled lightweight plastic balls when other materials can no longer handle the task, e.g. when they are too heavy or not resistant to certain chemicals.

Crafted from various types of highly resistant plastics, our balls are non-magnetic, non-electrically conductive and, above all, extremely light. This means they can be used in virtually any application, including electrical measuring instruments, fittings, optical devices or pumps.

POM plastic balls POM plastic balls – for diverse applications

As they are so lightweight, plastic polyoxymethylene (POM) balls are used for finger pumps / trigger pumps, spray containers, valves, car seat rails, ball bearings or medical instruments. This extremely light thermoplastic ball is suitable for diverse applications as it unites several winning properties in one.

Properties:

  • Material: POM (polyoxymethylene)
  • Properties: can withstand corrosion, wear and abrasion, resistant to alkalis and acids, electrical insulator, self-lubricating
  • From 1mm to 80mm diameter
  • From grades G0 to G3

PP plastic balls PP plastic balls – light but effective

PP balls are lighter than other kinds of plastic balls. Hollow plastic balls are the lightest balls available on the market. Polypropylene balls are used for (floating) valves, low load bearings, for fluid level indicators and chemical and medical equipment.

Properties:

  • Material: PP (polypropylene)
  • Properties: resistance to corrosion and impact, electrical insulator, floats on water, recyclable
  • From 1mm to 80mm diameter
  • From grades G1 to G3

Hollow plastic balls Hollow plastic balls – extremely light and good resistance to corrosion

Our especially lightweight (because they’re hollow) plastic polypropylene balls are used mainly for cosmetic applications, e.g. in roll-on deodorants, or for valves and spray heads. Hollow balls are used as floating elements to reduce liquid evaporation.

Properties:

  • Material: PP (polypropylene), PE (polyethylene) or PVDF (polyvinylidenfluoride)
  • Properties: withstands corrosion and impact, heat resistant, floats on water, recyclable
  • From 8.00mm to 80.00mm diameter, up to 2,500mm for PE balls
  • From grades G1 to G3

PTFE balls Telfon plastic balls – extremely heat resistant

The material PTFE, i.e. polytetrafluorethylene, is often known by the brand name Teflon. It has high corrosion resistance, making it suitable for applications with elevated temperatures – just like the Teflon-coated pans which we are all familiar with. PTFE balls are therefore used in applications which are particularly heat intensive.

Properties:

  • Material: PTFE (polytetrafluorethylene) or Teflon
  • Properties: corrosion resistance, thermally stable, excellent lubrication
    • These balls are available as fine precision ground balls and CNC machined balls
    • Suitable for CNC machining to add boreholes or slots, to be used as valveballs
  • From 1.588mm to 80.000mm diameter
  • From grades G1 to G3

PA balls Nylon balls PA 6.6 – especially tough

Nylon or plastic polyamide (PA) balls are used for special valves, low load bearings, or medical devices which must be especially tough. You’ll be familiar with nylon from elasticated tights. Nylon has unique properties in addition to high corrosion resistance, making it especially attractive material for balls.

Properties:

  • Material: PA (polyamide/nylon)
  • Properties: resistance to corrosion, wear and abrasion, self-lubricating, especially tough and elastic, electrical insulator
  • From 1.588mm to 80.000mm diameter
  • From grades G1 to G3

TPU balls Polyurethane (TPU) balls – rubber and elastic

TPU balls are especially suited to foodstuff applications, but also for special bearings and safety valves. TPU balls are also ideal for surface cleaning application such as "Screen cleaning".

Properties:

  • Material: TPU (polyurethane)
  • Properties: corrosion resistant in dilute acids and alkalis, mineral oils and greases, similar to rubber – only more resistance to abrasion and wear.
  • From 1.588mm to 80.0mm diameter
  • From grades G1 to G3

PEEK balls PEEK balls – the high-performance balls

If you need highly durable balls that are abrasion resistant, or if the material has to be extremely weatherproof, e.g. for sailing applications, you should opt for PEEK balls. These high-performance semi-crystalline balls are made from a thermoplastic which can withstand extreme pressure, high temperatures, gamma rays and seawater.

Properties:

  • Material: PEEK (polyether ether ketone)
  • Properties: high resistance to heat and gamma rays, and excellent wear, abrasion and corrosion resistance
  • From 1.588mm to 60.000mm diameter
  • From grades G0 to G3

TPX balls Unique plastic balls that float in diesel

TPX balls are made from a very light, transparent and semi-crystalline thermoplastic and have similar chemical properties compared to PP plastic balls. TPX balls are particularly translucent, have non-stick properties like Teflon balls, and are the only plastic balls that can even float in diesel. As a result, they are often used for engines and valves.

Properties:

  • Material: TPX (polymethylpentene, PMP)
  • Properties: low density 0.83g/cm3, no water absorption, light transmission up to ~ 92-94%, a low refractive index as well as anti-adhesion properties, good UV transmission properties, good thermal stability
  • From 1.588mm to 60.000mm diameter
  • From grades G0 to G3
